From Vendôme 42 minutes by TGV (high speed train) to Paris allows you a day trip to the city. Good restaurants (one in Lavardin - 1km) within a range of 50km. Easy shopping in Montoire (3km)and every Wednesday, since medieval time, there is a market on the main square. You can buy goat cheese from local farmers.
